Aloha ALL you PRIDE Filled PEOPLE!

On Sunday, October 27th there will be a community gathering called “Love Makes A Family” at the Hawaii State Capitol in support of Marriage Equality.

This gathering is to give all the different groups, organizations, and individuals a chance to come together before the start of the Special Session and recharge our batteries!! If history has taught us anything we know the hearings for the Marriage Equality bill will be long and we will hear things that will cause us pain and stress - so to help get everyone through the hearings, in one piece, we will need our strength!

At the gathering we will have:
* Special musical guests,
* Voter registration &
* Helpful tools to contact legislators!! &

SO much more!

12:00 PM: Brown Bag Picnic

2:00 PM: Official Program Begins

Our headliner is Willie K!
Also performing is Gay Men's Chorus of Honolulu!

With special guest speakers like:
Ariyaphon Southiphong
(Andy South)
Rep. Chris Lee
Andrea Anderson
of Planned Parenthood of Hawaii &

more surprise guests!

We will also be collecting donations for the Hawaii FoodBank because with the government shutdown and the holidays right around the corner the Foodbank will need donations!

We hope to see you ALL THERE!

Keeping PRIDE Alive!!

Aloha ALL you PRIDE Filled People!

What a GREAT week!! (with the exception of SCOTUS gutting the Voter’s Right Act)

In case you have not heard – SCOTUS dealt discrimination a death blow by striking down DOMA and then they allowed the lower courts ruling on Prop 8 to stand bringing Marriage Equality back to California!!

While neither of these decisions brings marriage equality to Hawaii, their indirect impact will have a great impact and help in EVERYONE’s fight for marriage equality. But you can help change that by emailing Governor Abercrombie and asking him to call a Special Session to pass Marriage Equality here in Hawaii - governor.abercrombie@hawaii.gov

We all here at Honolulu Pride believe that Pride should be more than a one day, one weekend, or even one month a year – it should be something we carry with us ALL year long!! To that end we will be posting on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/honolulupride) a different group or business that participated in Honolulu Pride this year starting July 1.

If you have not taken our survey regarding Honolulu Pride please take 3 minutes and go to www.honolulupride.org and give us the information we need to help make Honolulu Pride even better in 2014!

Mahalo and HAPPY PRIDE!
