Last Chance to VOTE WITH PRIDE

Aloha ALL You Pride Filled People,

Early Walk-in Voting has ended and now that Iselle and Julio are on their way - Please stay safe!

If you have not voted you can only vote now on Saturday, August 9 the polls are open from 7 AM - 6 PM.

Find your polling location here:
https://elections2.hawaii.gov/ppl/

If you are not sure of who to vote for there are a couple Voter Guide links at the bottom of this email as well as at HONOLULU PRIDE'S - Resource Center: www.honolulupride.org/vote.html

One thing we have noticed after reviewing all of them, that even though the LGBT organizations do not always agree on everything there is ONE thing that ALL of the LGBT Voter Guides and our ally organizations agree with and that one thing is that Governor Abercrombie deserves another term and our vote. (This is not an endorsement from Honolulu Pride, just an observation.)

Mahalo for your time and for taking part in our electoral process!

MAHALO NUI LOA & Happy PRIDE Month

Aloha You PRIDE filled people!

First let me say MAHALO NUI LOA on behalf of all of us at Honolulu Pride for helping to make the 2014 Honolulu Pride Parade & Celebration the largest and most inclusive to date.

We had a record number participants in the Pride Parade and attendees at the Celebration! This could not have been possible without your support and participation!

We are already starting to work on 25th Annual Honolulu Pride Parade & Celebration and here is where we need your help once again! Please go to our website www.honolulupride.org and take the 2014 survey. We use your input to help us plan.

Lastly we are launching our 2014 Vote With Pride campaign since Pride has its roots in social justice and political activism. The goal of the Vote With Pride campaign is:
1. Make sure that every member of Hawaii's LGBTQIA community is registered to vote,
2. Educated about the candidates stances and
3. VOTES!

We will be sharing voting guides from other LGBTQIA organizations and supportive organizations. While we will never tell you who to vote for - it is our goal to help provide you with the resources to know where the candidates stand on LGBTQIA issues.

Remember it is PRIDE Month & beyond!

The Gay Men's Chorus of Honolulu has their PRIDE concert at Diamond Head Theater this Saturday,
Pride@Work Hawaii has their Pau Hana at Chiko's Tavern tomorrow night,
the GLBT Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawaii has their monthly meeting on Saturday at 10 AM,
Bacchus is hosting a fundraiser for the Gay Flag Football League on Sunday,
Kauai Pride is taking place all weekend long and then

Next month Rainbow Family 808 is marching in 4th of July Kailua Parade as well as having our friend Hina (star of KUMU Hina) as their guest speaker on July 10th &
then July 12th is Big Island Pride Parade and Celebration in Hilo!

As we all saw at Honolulu Pride and from this list, our community is alive and very busy! Which is great since we have so much more work to do (banning conversion therapy, transgender protections, helping homeless LGBTQIA youth and so on) and we can do it working together!

Mahalo again for your support and have great PRIDE month!

Another Surprise for Honolulu Pride

Surprise #3

Former #HonoluluPride Grand Marshal - Kumu Hina Wong-Kula will give the Oli for the 24th Annual Honolulu Pride Celebration at the Kapiolani Bandstand at 12:00 PM #KumuHina #Pride #JustGettingStarted #LoveIsLove #APlaceInTheMiddle

Honolulu Pride Surprises for Thursday!

Surprise #1 -

A secret that we are letting out of the bag - emcee for Saturday is none other than Mele Apana from Hawaiian 105

Surprise #2 -

Carrie Gerendsay from the Bay Area's The Average Dyke Band will take the stage Saturday at @ 1:15 pm in Kapiolani Park at the Bandstand!

She is a high energy folk singer with a big voice for rock and blues, a sweet sound for ballads and a lightning-fast flat picking hand. Her songs inspire and her stage presence lights up the room.

She has played women's festivals, pride festivals and folk concerts throughout the world but, lately, plays mostly with her band, The Average Dyke Band in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Her band will be headlining 2 festivals in the Bay Area in Sept., so, if you're in the Bay Area, look out for the Average Dyke Band. #Pride #LoveisLove #AverageDykeBand #Surprise

One Last Grand Marshal Named for 2014

Aloha!

We wanted to let you all know that Honolulu Pride received permission last night and we will be adding one more Grand Marshal for the 2014 Honolulu Pride Parade and Celebration and that Grand Marshal is Steve Dinion from Pride@Work - Hawaii

For those of you that did not know we lost Steve last month. We wanted permission from his widow before moving forward.

This selection as with Bill is meant as a Celebration of their lives. #WeCarryOn #WeMissYou #LoveisLove
